Prelude VTEC Engine Modifications
Oct 2007
.
Some time ago I purchased a brand new H22A P13-HF1 cylinder head from New
Zealand. It was complete with cams, valves and a new vtec solenoid. It came up in
an
auction at what
I thought was a bargain price. The hardest thing to
swallow was the disproportionate shipping costs from NZ to England
when compared to what I paid for the item. I considered
it worth it, as at some time in the future, if anything was to ever go
wrong with my engine, having
this as a spare head was good news.
To be forced to have to find one would always be more expensive. I bought
it as insurance really, but hoped to be able to fit it sometime in the
future.
I recently bought a used H22A7 and LSD gearbox which is being swapped into the Prelude at the moment. It will be re-using the oBD1 Prelude distributor, the Prelude IAB intake and exhaust manifold, so that it will swap right in with no fitment issues. I have a Neptune RTP ecu which was mapped for the last engine which I will be using. However, I have the PDE Accord Type-R ecu which I could use but would need to get myself an OBD1-OBD2B harness to be able to plug it into the Prelude. There is also the issue of the immobiliser in the ecu, but I have found a way around this. (Contact me if you would like details).
